1950 Resident Company - Singers

Betty Jane Cocho received her musical education at the Julliard School of Music. She has appeared as a singer at the Radio City Music Hall and the Robert Shaw and Serge Koussevitzky at Carnegie Hall. She has sung the role of Papagena in "The Magic Flute", and Susanna in "The Marriage of Figaro" on NBC TV.

Eileen Schauler comes from Millburn, NJ and received her musical education at the Julliard School of Music. She made her professional debut with the Chautaugua Opera Association during the summer of 1947. The following year she was at the Papermill Playhouse for six months. She joined the Music Circus last summer. She has been on numerous radio shows and has given solo concerts at Carnegie Hall and Times Hall in New York. Read more...

Ann Richards made her professional debut with the road company of "Annie Get Your Gun" in Cleveland, Ohio in February, 1949. Later she also toured in "The Merry Widow". She was also a resident member of the Music Circus Company in 1949.




Helen Campbell began her professional career singing in night clubs in her native Columbus, Ohio.

Dorothy Kennedy is a resident of Upper Black Eddy, PA. Her appearance at the Music Circus this year marks her professional debut.

Donald Kaplan, a junior at the University of Miami, is a native of New Jersey. In 1947 he sang as soloist with the New Jersey All-State Chorus in Convention Hall, Atlantic City and at the Mosque Theatre in Newark. He made his professional debut with the Miami Opera Guild in "Aida". He had his own radio show on station WTTT in Miami and when time permits he takes part in the University of Miami productions. He was with the Music Circus in Miami in the 1949 season.

John Jarvis took his degree at the Julia Hart Music School in Hartford, CT. He made his debut on Broadway in the New York City Center production of "Show Boat" during the 1948-1949 season and he later toured with "The Merry Widow."

John Faulkner is a graduate of Western Reserve University and the Cleveland institute of Music. He made his professional debut at the Cain Park Theatre in Cleveland as the Prince in "The Student Prince".

Larry Haynes won himself a trip around the world on Ralph Edward's "Truth of Consequenses" TV show in early 1950. He was with the Los Angeles Light Opera Company and in 1949 he toured with "Show Boat."

Clifford Fearl is a graduate of Columbia University and received his dramatic and musical education at the American Theatre Wing School. During the 1948-49 season, he was with the Provincetown Playhouse and later sang operetta with the Forestburgh Summer Theatre.

Johnny Barber got his stage training acting with the Scarlet Mask Players at Ohio State University. He later did television and light opera work in Columbus, Ohio.

Henri Faust received his musical education at the Academy of Vocal Arts in his native Philadelphia. He has appeared with the St. Louis and the Cleveland Opera Companies and toured in "The Merry Widow".
1950 Resident Company - Dancers

Madeleine Artieres comes from a musical family. Her father plays the viola with the Boston Symphany Orchestra. She received her dance training at the School of American Ballet in New York and makes her professional debut dancing at the Music Circus in 1950. She went on to dance with the Metropolitan Opera. She married Music Circus set designer Jim Hamilton and they raised a family in nearby Bucks County, PA.

Arun Evans received her professional education at the Professional Children's School in New York. She was also a member of the Music Circus dancers for the 1949 season. Her father, Charles Evans, is the scenic designer at the Music Circus.

Joan McCallum join the Music Circus ballet troupe in mid-season. Though born in New York City, she has spent most of her 19½ years in Trenton, NJ. Her Broadway and professional debut was in the musical revue, "Make Mine Manhattan". In addtion to dancing, she worked as a model for John Powers

Francine Bond is the sister of Sheila Bond, who starred on Broadway in "The Live Wire" while Francine danced at the Music Circus. Francine entered show business in 1949 in the Broadway musical review, "Dance Me a Song". She aspires to be both a singer and a dancer.

Adele Farlee was born in Trenton, NJ. She made her professional dancing debut at the Metropolitan Opera House in "La Giaconda" in 1948. Since then She has been on many radio and TV shows.




Francine Bond is the sister of Sheila Reed now starring in "The Live Wire" on Broadway. Francine entered show business last winter in the Broadway musical review "Dance Me a Song." She aspires to be singer and a dancer.

Janet Picard is a Chicago girl and has danced at the Civic Opera House there. Last season in New York she was in the Molly Picon show: "Abi Gazunt" and "Sadie Was a Lady" at the 2nd Avenue Theater.
